Cause I do and here is my reading experience about animals.
This book I am about to share with you is a book called Over 1000 Fantastic Animal Facts.
It is by an author by the name of  Belinda Gallagher and the text type is a non fiction.                               
The purpose of this true story is to entertain my reader and hook them with some cool animal facts.         
I found out that all animals have different habitats like some live wooded areas,forest,scrubs,lakes,ponds and rivers.
I worked out that different animals are from different places e.g kiwis are from New Zealand and kangaroos are from Aussie.
I think that animals should be out in the wild rather being in the zoo because that's not

Polyclub Learning Story


 No matter how far you go in life never forget where you came from you can't change who you are


In polyclub I am good at having lots of energy so I can do sharp actions and represent my culture because I am glad to have a culture like what I have and a family who accepts the language our family is from.

When I am doing polyclub I think about my family and what they have taught me to represent my Samoan culture. I love every single bit about how my family teaches me Samoan and does special moments about our family e.g (Funerals,weddings and farewells).

Something I need to work on in polyfest is following what my passion is and believing in what's right because all the years I have been alive my parents always believe in their culture and what's right.

As we are dancing I recognize some of the dance moves (some that I learn from my parents and some I learned from special family events). When I started polyclub in 2015 that was my first time I had ever tried but I wasn't worried because my family was teaching me some Samoan dances.

This problem is about Kalisha wanting to know how much liquid of milk is in each carton and making sure it’s enough for each day for her age

First we were trying to find out how much milk cartons they could carry.

Then we went 125 + 125 = 250 = 4c Then we did the same with 250 + 250 = 500 which makes 0.5kg because we thought of doing a additive strategy to help us see how much times we could + it.

After that we did 4 x 8 which = 32
And then we did 4 x 30 which = 120
And then so we + that together 32 + 120 and it was = 152

We chose to do this so we can find out how much the box weighed because we wanted to know what we were doing.

I am good at friendly arguing  because when I am talking to my group we are disagreeing and agreeing on each others opinions.

I am getting better at taking a risk because I can share my ideas to the class and I can help people when they are stuck and also I can work with others

I feel nervous when I share back sometimes because when everyone stares at me I always get butterflies and it also make me feel anxious.

I find it hard to repeat other people because sometimes I talk to my friends when I’m suppose to be listening and paying attention

I need to work on making connections because when I have the same ideas as someone else I always think, I should share my gold.

The key competency I use well in maths is managing self because I am always making sense when I am sharing back my gold

The key competency  need to work on is thinking because I need to learn new ideas and not say that ones that don't make sense.

Isabel said: Pasiano is good at including others when he is doing maths because when other people come he ask them if they wanna join.

 Pasiano’s Dance Learning Story     Term 3

 “Practise like you’ve never won, perform like you’ve never lost”. 
In dance practice I danced as if I was on the actual stage, although I made mistakes, I practiced over and over again to change whatever mistakes I made. I tried to be sassy, going for gold I did everything in my power to make my character on stage look, wow!

I enjoyed the fact that one of the dance moves came from Fortnite  it’s called the flapper-it’s cool. What we wear and what we do suits the dance because of the colour of the suspenders we wear.

In dance I was good at doing sharp bouncy actions because I learned from all the practises that we have gone through .
I got better at  smiling because I was shy to perform in front of the audience, but now I just go for gold.

I felt proud of myself because I don't really like dancing in public, I get pretty nervous when it comes to dancing in front of heaps of people because I worry too much that I might make a mistake, but at the end of the day everybody makes mistakes.
Something that was hard for me was being nervous because in my head I was imagining what could go wrong with my actions.

The key competency I was good at was participating and contributing because I have been to all the practises. I was always involved in all our practices and in the end I knew I gave it my best. dance link

Something I was good at this year was working well with others because in a group I share my clever thinking and I take risks by friendly arguing.
This year I participated in many sports like basketball and flag. Something I was good at in flag was passing and sharing the ball.

I am a successful learner because I share my clever ideas and take a risk.
A goal that I achieved this year was being able to work well with others. I achieved it by taking a risk because to be honest. I only like to work with my friends.

I help my class be a fun and safe place by working well with them and sharing my ideas with them.
I learn well in a group because I communicate well.
I need to stop getting distracted  and get on with my work because it will make it easier in college.
The school job I have handled this year is giving out the lunches and  taking the lunchbox back. And I do my job well.
The key competency I need to work on is managing self towards my work because it would help at college. I think I will do this by not sitting near my friends and not getting distracted.
The learning I like to do most at school is inquiry because you discuss and plan about what your passion is
The learning I find hard is maths because sometimes I give up and I get distracted.Next year I need to work on focusing on my work because I could change for college.

Pasiano's Legacy statement

  2018 my last year at Corinna School after 8 years of laughter, memories, and on and off times.

    I would like to be remembered as a young sporty, fit  13 year old. 

     I will never forget all my friends because they have   supported me throughout my years at Corinna School.

    I want to be remembered  as a person who teaches  other kids my sporty skills and a person who was good at hosting games at lunchtime.

    I’ll always remember those funny times, like when Stigi tripped me up. To be honest I actually deserved that because I was acting cool in front of the boys!

    I would like to thank all my friends and teachers because they have supported me throughout my years of learning new stuff.

  

    A challenging time would be when we used to do those tests  because I would just give up easily.

     If it wasn't for the support at Corinna School, my family and my friends I wouldn’t be where I am today.  There's a Samoan saying that goes ‘Uso aso uma!’ That's what I think of my friends here at Corinna.

             The Kursed Apple

 As I was walking through a forest,I saw this fresh juicy apple just waiting to be eaten.

I picked the apple off the tree and I was             about to take a bite, until this lady came out of nowhere and said” If you eat that apple there will be consequences.”

To be honest I didn't really care what she said so I took a bite anyways.

Woke up in a bottle.     “What the heck! Where am I?     is this a dream  .?”

Trying to call for help!  It's no use! I think back …
Can't take this anymore!  Hungry,cold and sick.  About to give up until this kid picks me up in the bottle and throws me on the ground.  The bottle breaks.

Yay I'm free but I’m still tiny. I don't care because I wont be seen again and I can do whatever I want.

     Next steps

More information about each thing that happened eg more about walking in the forest more about eating the apple more about being in the bottle when it was thrown.
 More words to describe to describe things  to make a picture in your readers head.

 Correct use of full stops at the end of each sentence and capital letters at the beginning use of commas.

Tech Learning Story

When music hits you, you feel no pain.

We have just finished the music rotation with Mrs Connally. In music; we have been put in groups like a band and in our groups we had to pick a song that we would play with instruments.

In my group there was Prestigious, Keelan and Tevin: the music that we decided to pick was Don’t Worry by Bob Marley.

The instrument that I chose to play was a guitar. Keelan played the ukelele, Tevin played a bass guitar and Prestigious played the piano.

I was good at staying on task by listening to Mrs Connally’s instructions like: “Go and play the guitar” or “Go and play the ukulele” I played the xylophone until I found the right instrument to play which was the guitar.

It was hard for me to stop talking to Keelan because we both were distracting each other, Maybe next time I’m going to move away from Keelan.

I got better at trying new instruments because the only thing I usually play is Fortnite.

I need to work on stop talking to my friends by moving away. The key competency that I was good at was Managing Self because I got on with what I was doing.

The key competency I need to work on is Thinking about how I can play the guitar in our band because my beat was off.

In P.E I'm good at long ball and dodgeball cause I'm good at throwing and I'm also good at cheering others on even if there not in my team.

It was hard to throw straight to get the player out in long ball  cause sometimes when I throw the ball it goes crooked.

Something I need to work on is throwing it more softley cause it might hurt others legs and I also need to work on throwing the ball straight cause sometimes it goes off my target .

My next steps is to throw straight cause sometimes it goes off and I also need to work on throwing more softer in dodgeball cause it might cause an injury.

In art we been learning what surrealist art is.
We have been creating self portraits that share information about ourselves.

The thing I was focused on was how to draw light lines and shading and using bold colours.

My portrait tells a story because it gives us information about my identity.

At Pataka they showed us examples of portraits and I was able to use it on my own like the shading.

My next steps is to take a risk and add more detail to my self portrait.

Pasiano was good at shading  because it looks realistic like Jillian's one.                           
Pasiano needs to work on to add more detail to it. because  there is only a cross and turtle.

About technology

Every Thursday afternoon the Year 7’s and 8’s have technology at Brandon Intermediate and there are different stations e.g art, hard material, soft materials, cooking, and music. The group that I'm in now is soft materials with Miss Bradley she is our sewing teacher.

The groups I’ve been to:

What we do in soft materials

In soft materials we pick out of three things we can sew e.g a  unicorn headband, a pillow and a a teddy bear. The one that Iv’e chosen to do is the unicorn head band because it looks really cool and it would be fun to sew .   Here is a image

Room 12 needs to buy furniture to meet their learning needs. Unfortunately, there is not much money left in the furniture budget, so they need to look for the best possible deal, so they can furnish our classrooms.


Furnware is offering 35% off all tables. The tables they want are usually worth $360. What is the sale price?
Office Max is selling the same tables at 45% off the total price. The tables we want are usually worth $420. What is the sale price?
Who should they buy their tables from? What is the saving, so they can justify their decision with Ms Whiting?

This problem is all about Room 12 needs to buy furniture to meet their learning needs. But there's not enough money in the furniture budget
 So they need to look for the best deal so they can furnish our classrooms.

 I was trying to find out what 35% of $360=?

First I did 10% of $360 is $36

The I did 5% of $360 is $18

So $360-$126=234

I knew that finding 10% was useful.
I had to multiply 10% times 3. My next step is to get better at multiplying percentages.

How I work in a maths group
In maths group I'm good at listening to others ideas.  And I'm good at repeating others clever ideas.

In maths I got better at asking for help and something else I got better at was asking questions to find out what the problem was about and questions like “Why did you do that?”

In maths I need to work on having a turn at writing ideas down because then my group can use my ideas too.

My Life Story

My Life Story

Talofa every one!!!! Welcome to my life story.
                       
7/26/05 was when it all started at Wellington Hospital.  I opened up my eyes and I was like What the heck am I doing here?
My family was cheering so hard it drew my attention. It was also scary because my family was screaming the whole hospital down and I only had small ears.
“I'm trying to get some rest here. I've only just been born anyways as I got older I had a hobby which was rugby I started playing rugby when I was only 5 for the Porirua Vikings with my two siblings Mysteeq and Jae.
My position was a winger.
5 years later…  at the age of 10 I stopped playing rugby and gave it a break.

I attempted to try out a different sport called flag and I was actually really good at it.
It was another one of my passions and I was also inspired by my friend named Kiti.


In school the only subject I like is P.E (physical education). We usually play dodge ball or long ball.
I like long ball and dodge ball better because I like throwing and running. 

I'm really good at working with the juniors because i'm patient and fun for them to play with.

I'm a Year 8 now and this is my last year at Corinna School.
This year I'm going to be a role model and going to improve on my learning.

In the future my dream is to play a professional sport named rugby league.

My Writing Learning Story
How do we communicate important information about our identity in an interesting way?
I was good at including a surprise, something unusual, or something our readers don’t know  because I said I only had small ears.

I got better at including an ending so my reader knows my writing is done.

I found it hard to add more writing to a different paragraph.

My next steps are to add more writing to paragraphs because my reader needs to know more.

This is such an interesting story. Your hook was great and you chose really interesting things about you to share with us. You wrote your story like you were talking to your reader. poly club learning story

I am good at learning new actions because nash teaches me and the boy’s that are a part of poly club new actions.

I'm good at focusing on Nash when he is teaching us actions to learn. I can self manage because in poly I see the year 8’s self managing so I want to be like them and self manage.

I got better at self self managing because the year 8’s showed me a way where  I won't get into trouble. It is hard to ignore people when they are talking to me because it makes me want to talk back to them but I will try my hardest not to talk to them.

I feel proud of myself when I notice that I've been self managing and being focused because I don't have to get a single solve it from a teacher.

My next steps are to ignore people that will try and talk to me my other next step is to stop laughing when a person is being silly because I need to step up and be a role model. I will achieve my next steps by ignoring the people or a person that will distract me or try and talk to me or give them a solve it. I will achieve my other next step by thinking in my head if I laugh to the person that is trying to make me laugh I will get into trouble for laughing.

I used the key competency of self managing and staying focused as a learning power because I wanted to stay in poly club and not get sent out for misbehaving. I needed to use the key competency of relating to others as a learning power because our performance will be really good. My friend Touteo think I'm good at self managing and ignoring because he sometimes tells me that I'm good at self managing and good at ignoring.

PE learning story

The problem is how do we use the kc’s to help ourselves and others to shine in pe? It means finding out which kc’s will help me to shine. Me and Diantey with Nash set up games for the class every Wednesday or Friday.  

We play fair by following the rules, we encourage people by cheering them on. My next steps are to help others by sharing my skills and actively using kind words. I was good at self managing at sports.

 

I was listening to the ref’s calls by when I knocked the ball on I gave it to the other team and played fair. I will achieve my next steps by telling the people that don't know any skills in the games and showing them what my skill’s are and how you do them. My other next step is using kind words like thinking before I talk and take a deep breath I am going to use kind words towards the people in which games we play.

My cubism art learning story

Learning problem: How do we create a self portrait in the style of cubism?

I completed most of the success criteria because I used more than one colour, I know I did this because my picture is blue, light blue, brown, green red and black. I used colours that are used on aliens instead of humans. I know I achieved the success criteria of using different perspective and shapes to muddled up my art, because I used two parts of my face, the front and the side. I also used different shapes on my face, and I muddled up the face by putting the eyes in a random place. I also know that I sketched lightly because I went around lightly and was rubbing out my drawing as I needed to.

I didn’t copy my photo carefully because I wanted to be finished, but I thought that is ok because cubism isn’t all about looking like yourself. This is my next step, to meet all the success criteria by using my photo and copying it carefully.

The key comp I need to use next time is self managing like where I sit, who I sit next to. It took me a long time to finish this art.

My self as a learner

Pasiano’s Myself as a learner: Term 1 learning story

A learning story tells other people about our learning.

Purpose: In term 1 we have been learning how to use our group norms and key competencies to be the best learners we can be, and to work together as a whanau to help each other succeed.

I take responsibility for my own learning by sharing my ideas because this means I’m taking a risk and working towards solving the problem. I  make sure I’m  not being a passenger. I also ask questions because it helps me to be in the right  track.

An example in maths is when I take  risks by sharing my ideas and my  answers with the group even when I thought my answer was wrong because I know Ms Ashlee or my Group will help me.

An example in literacy is when Jaleus wanted to read our journal but  instead I asked Jaleus if I could read it.An example of when I take responsibility of my learning in PE is when  I participate in groups and the game’s. I do this by joining in games by asking and by sharing thing’s while playing, if I have something or if I don't get it I’ll ask for help so I can understand.

I take responsibility for my group by asking questions and making sure we all know what to do. We make sure that there are no passengers and also make sure we solve the problem together.

An example in maths is when I participated by helping everyone in my group and listening so we have a understanding of the meaning of the questions. I help others when they don't understand what we are talking about in our group. I make sure that there are no passengers in  our maths groups by asking them questions. We share our ideas about how to solve the problem. We also ask questions about what we might do and how,  we make sure that we all are taking a risk and be brave. Sometime’s  my  maths is very hard, but I just take a risk.

An example in PE is when Ms Ashlee taught us a new bean bag game I didn't really understand the rules so I put my hand up and asked questions like ¨How do you score points¨ and ¨Can we throw the bean bags?

Next steps:

Key Competency goal: The key competency I want to become an expert in is relating to others and thinking before I speak because I upset people and make them angry sometimes.	Using kind words controlling my mouth when I speak and controlling my hands.
Literacy goal: In reading/writing/oral language I want to be able to write and edit my work properly because I want to improve my learning.	Make sure I edit my work properly. My writing would have full stops in the right place and capital letters in the right place.
Numeracy goal: In maths I want to be able to take risks and share my good ideas because I don't do that often.	Speaking clearly so that they can hear me.

Talofa bebels (people lol) O lo’u igoa  Pasiano, I'm 11 years old and I’m Samoan. I live with Mum Lige  (32 years) , Step Dad Jason (41), my brother Jae, 9 years old and sister Mysteeq, 10 years old. We also got a pet puppy named Whiskey he’s only 4 months.

I also have 5 other siblings but they don't live with me. They are Shania (17), Cordeius (9), Qwonnel (7) Poasa (4) and Mareta (2).

My hobbies

• Sports -I love to play Rugby, Basketball, Soccer, Sockey & Flag because it's fun and keeps you fit and also you work as a team.
• Scootering - because I love to learn new skills, it’s fun & love riding with my friends.
• Art - I love drawing, painting & learning about different ways of art.
• Polyclub & Kapa Haka - I love learning about my own culture and also others like Maori, Tokelau & Cook Island.

My goal this year is to be focused in my maths learning because i'm not that good at it. Also to more focused on PASIANO and no one else

In the future I want to be a rugby league player and play for NZ Warriors & hopefully to represent NZ Kiwis or Toa Samoa.

Of course I do there's Diantey and Keelan. We are brothers from different mothers lol. We like to cause trouble and be funny, but the main thing we like to do together is riding and doing tricks on our scooters on our breaks.
